My youngest is 18 months and only has 8 teeth, she is tiny tiny but eats more than my 2 and a half year old. There has been a few times she has choked to the point of going blue, but i put her on her tummy and patted her back (i dont know what you call it but you learn it in first aid what to do when a baby chokes, always a good thing to know!) and she got it out, it was on bread and i thought she might be ready to try a banana solid because she was gettign good at chewing, nope bad idea. So i just make sure her food is really mashed up or small enough she cant choke and watch her. I am super carefull because its very scary when that happens and since she choked i am like really paranoid. If i cant mash something up enough with a fork and knife i use the blender. My kids never really had baby food i alway made it my self. But there is lots you can try that mash up easy, fruits and for the harder fruits like apples i used a cheese grater, like WhalleyWench said about the mashed potatoes and gravy, pretty mush all veggies just cook them longer, meat if you mush it really well, cottage cheese, yogurt, spagetti, etc.
