She is a kind and beautiful person.  Her work is ethical and reliable.  She sticks to very high standards in research and is committed to benefiting sex industry workers with her work.  She pays sex workers for their expertise – for instance, inviting them to speak to her university classes.  She admits when she does not have the answer and is very tolerant of people’s misconceptions. 

John Lowman, SFU

An oft-quoted supporter of sex industry rights activists, John Lowman's research has been instrumental in shaping this movement.  As a man, he has withstood the stereotyping and condemnation society puts on consumers of the sex industry.  And yet, he has not wavered from the results his research have proven.  Criminalizing sex work has had lethal consequences that no person should have to endure.

He is an active member of sex industry advocacy groups and as a researcher and academic, he uses his influence and studies to support initiatives to improve sex industry working conditions.
